THIS MONTH'S TOPIC:

Six Reasons why Believers should live by Faith

Living by faith is the greatest existence available to humans, especially to believers.  If you are a believer in the Holy Bible or God's Word, then you should take advantage of each and every opportunity to develop the strength of your believing.

The Bible is the Book that God the Father has given humans so they can be extremely developed in a wonderful life of faith.  Without hearing the Word of God, the type of faith that pleases the Father would be challenging and virtually impossible.  Thanks be to the Father for His infallible, impeccable, immutable, indisputable and eternal Word.

Let us look at what the Bible says about the power of Faith.  In Hebrews 11:33-35 it says "...Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.  Women received their dead raised to life again again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection:."

These are wonderful and fantastic testimonies of how people receieved great things because of their faith in our Father.  I have had many great things occur or manifest in my life because of this wonderful force called faith.  You can have your own testimonies if you would give the Word of God first place in your life.

After careful examination of the scriptures and living by faith all of my adult life, I can safely say that living by faith basically is living by your actions and your words based upon the Word of God.

Jesus says in Luke 17:6 "...if ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you ".  I have put in bold the essence of this scripture:  if ye had faith, ye might say and it should obey you.  Jesus says IF YE HAD FAITH.  He did not say you would have faith.

But good news, if you are born again you have at least what I call "John 3:16" faith.  As a member of the family of God you have the spirit of faith according to Second Corinthians 4:13:  "We having the same spirit of faith...".  Furthermore, according to Galatians 6:10, I am of the "household of faith".  Romans 12:3 says "God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith".  Of course He has done this and continues to do this through the hearing of His Word(Romans 10:17).  The book of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John were written to men who were not born again.  They did not have the nature of God in them at the time of Jesus' earth ministry.  Most of the Gospels were written to people that were not born again.  Only until the last chapters where Jesus had been raised from the dead was he addressing men that were in the family of God as we know it today.

This is important for us to understand because many contemporary believers see themselves before the cross.  I see myself  after the cross.  In the Gospels, Jesus constantly used phrases like "if ye had faith", "Have faith", "where is your faith" and "O ye of little faith".  You will notice that when you look in the book of  Acts and beyond you don't see one commandment to have faith in God. Why not?  Because from the book of Acts on, the Bible is written to believers.  When you read the letters written to the churches you will notice that each letter, whether written by Paul, Peter, James or John, was written to people that already believed in God the Father who  had accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.  I see myself through the eyes of the cross(Galatians 2:20).  I see myself as a son of God(I John 3:1-2).  I see myself as a child of God(Romans 8:14-22, Galatians 3:26-29).  I am a believer(II Corinthians 6:16-18).  I have faith in God.

It is easy for believers to have faith in God.  We have the Word of God(II Peter 1:19).  We are in the family of God(Ephesians 3:15).  We are in the household of faith(Galatians 6:10, Ephesians 2:19).  Hearing the Word preached and spoken facilitates us having faith in God(Romans 10:17, Hebrews 4:1-3).

Romans 1:17 says that the righteousness of God is revealed from "faith to faith".  How can I go from one faith to the next unless I have some faith already.  You see, as I said earlier I have at least "John 3:16" faith.  I now can get more God-pleasing faith by the hearing of God's Word from other areas of the scriptures.  Furthermore, II Corinthians 5:7 says "for we walk by faith, not by sight".

II Corinthians 4:13 gives me great pleasure by reminding me of the fact that I have the spirit of faith.  I have the capability, means and wherewhithal to have all the faith in God necessary to do and be whatever the Bible commands.  Colossians 1:12 causes me great joy by revealing to me that the Father has "made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light".  I have been equipped by God to partake of my inheritance.  It is my faith in His Word that this occurs.  I can do all of the Bible by faith.  I can have all of the Word of God by faith.  I can experience all of the Good of God by faith in His glorious Word.

Now many believers have never invested enough time into discovering who they are and what they have in Christ Jesus.  This is a must.  You should spend a great deal of time studying the letters of Paul the Apostle and other parts of the New Testament because these books are about you the believer.  These books are about the person that is now "alive unto God".  They tell you about your authority in Christ Jesus.  They tell you of how defeated satan is.  They tell you about the love of the Father toward you.  You must also hear these messages preached and taught.  Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God.  You should hear messages on Son-ship.  You should hear messages on who you are as a son of God.  You should hear messages on your authority and of your dominion in the earth because of  what Jesus our Lord and Savour did on the cross and after his ressurection.  Once faith comes for these Bible truths you will go about doing good healing those that are oppressed of the devil.  Your faith will coincide with the Word of God.  You will be a spiritual tour de force.

When I live by faith, I am saying that I am living by my words that are based upon the Word of God.  When I say that I am saved, I say it because Ephesians 2:8 tells me that by grace I am saved through faith.  When I say that I can do all things through Christ, it is because Philippians 4:13 tells me so.  I live by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of the Father.  This is living by faith.  I am living by my confession.  I live by what I say based upon what the Father had said in His Word.  Now if I don't know what the Father has said then I will never live by the Father's faith.

In the garden of Eden, Adam named the animals and whatever he called them, that is what they were called(Genesis 2:19-20).  Once God brings the woman to Adam he immediately said "this is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh".  Adam lived out of his confession of faith.  He spoke to things and he spoke words.  He learned this from Father God.  This is called living by faith in God.

Once you discover who you are with the Father this is how you will live.  Once you discover the power of your relationship with the Father this is how you will talk.  Your words will determine your future because your words will coincide with the Word of God(John 6:61-63).  You will have what you say(Mark 11:23).  You will decree a thing and it will be established unto you(Job 22:28).  You will speak because you believe(II Corinth. 4:13).  Nothing will be impossible to you(Matthew 17:14-21, Mark 9:23).

So, after saying all I have said what are the reasons we should live by our faith?

  1. Living by faith pleases God(Hebrews 11:6).  Faith is the substance given to us by the Father so we can please Him.  Nothing else pleases the Father like faith in His Word.
  2. Living by faith glorifies the Father(Romans 4:20).
  3. Living by faith is the victory that overcomes the world and our force of dominion in the Earth(First John 5:4).
  4. Living by faith is the Father's way of provision for His children(Romans 4:13-16, Galatians 3:26-29).
  5. Living by faith is how we resist satan(First Peter 5:8-9).
  6. Living by faith is only characteristic of children of God(Galatians 3:26-29;4:1-7).  Unsaved people, religious people and people who have never discovered who they are with the Father will never live by faith.  The just shall live by faith(Romans 1:17, Habakkuk 2:4, Galatians 3:11, Hebrews 10:38).  All others live by their senses or the world.

These are my six reasons why we should live by our faith.  I pray that this message will expand your understanding of faith in God's Word.  I pray also that you would take great leaps in your faith in God through the hearing of His Word.

It is my prayer that this particular topic will help you in your endeavors with GOD. Any comments can be directed to me via e-mail, phone or conventional mail. Thank-you.
